Child Development Centers

Welcome to the Offutt Child Development Center Program. Our goal is to meet the physical, emotional, social, & intellectual needs of young children, and provide support to their families. The center has a staff of well-trained professionals who have skills & knowledge in early childhood education, developmental appropriate practices & interactions, providing multi-cultural activities, and positive guidance techniques for children. The staff is first aid & CPR certified.

A wide range of services is available in priority order to dependents of active duty military members, DoD civilian personnel (APF or NAF), reservists on duty, and DoD contractors. Full-time and hourly care is available to meet your specific needs. The Offutt Enrichment Program (preschool), is also a service that the Offutt Child Development Center provides. Expanded services are offered, providing care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age.

Philosophy

The philosophy of our Centers is based on the belief that children learn through play. They learn through first-hand experiences, by being actively involved in activities, and by exploring their world. Play allows the children to expand their thinking and language encourages creativity, and offers opportunities to learn self-discipline. Our environment is set up to facilitate self-initiated play. Learning is meaningful to a child when it is spontaneous and centered around the child’s interests. We offer outdoor play, group time, and learning centers. These Centers are dramatic play, block area, science, sand/water table, music, table toys, library, and creative art. All of the materials in each Center are placed on low, labeled shelves so that the children can easily select their own materials and return them when they are finished.

Developmental Programs

A well supervised developmental learning program is offered to all eligible age groups. Opportunities to aid in the child’s physical, intellectual, emotional and social development are presented. Regularly scheduled field trips, parent’s programs and many special events are included in the developmental and educational program. Child Development Program Assistants plan activities for both the Child Development Program and Offutt Enrichment Center to meet children’s developmental needs. Each child has a developmental skills folder. These are shared with parents annually, or upon their request.

Parents are invited and encouraged to communicate with the Director and staff, and are a welcomed part of the program. If you wish to visit and tour any of the Centers, you may do so by calling the Center’s Director.
