Transition Assistance Program (TAP)

Personal & Work Life Program
Provide personal and work life education that equips service members, couples and families with enrichment services with a focus on building and maintaining healthy relationships, strengthening interpersonal competencies and every-day problem solving skills to use throughout their military and family life-cycle.
Quick Overview of classes offered:
Bundles For Babies
The programs purpose is to provide expecting parents and new parents information regarding what to expect once baby arrives and preparation prior to baby arriving. Topics discussed are: taking care of baby, what expect from baby, taking care of yourself, Tricare and DEERS enrollment, financial expectations and preparation for baby, Air Force Aid Society programs available, base resources and community resources. There is also an information table with multiple handouts for the participants to take, some of which include, car seat safety, birthing classes, car seat safety checks, etc. The Offutt Bundles for Babies program is a partnership between the A&FRC and the New Parent Support Program (NPSP) nurses. The Bundles for Babies workshop is open to all ranks and all services and not limited to the first pregnancy.
DADS 101: Welcome to Fatherhood
Two sessions: 1430-1630
This program is for new and expecting Dads. It will be guided discussions on pregnancy, childbirth, fatherhood and your evolving relationship from couple, to partners. Preparing expectant fathers for the new role as parent and life partner. A&FRC discussion will cover financial expectations and preparations for baby. The Offutt DADS 101 program is a partnership between the M&FRC and Family Advocacy.
Parenting with Love and Logic
A parenting program designed to provide the love and logic formula to raising responsible kids. During this program you will:
- Identify the four steps to responsibility
- Recognize who has control and appropriate choices to share control
- Identifying if the problem belongs to the child or parent
- Setting limits
- Design consequences and strategy for resolving a problem situation or behavior
This class is a partnership between A&FRC and Family Advocacy.
1-2-3 Magic
A parenting program designed to provide effective discipline for children age 2-12.
You will learn:
- How to discipline without arguing, yelling, or spanking
- How to control obnoxious behavior
- How to handle the 6 kinds of testing and manipulation
- Five tactics for encouraging good behavior
- What to do about bedtime, messy rooms, lying, chores, homework and more
- How to strengthen your relationship with your child
This class is a partnership between A&FRC and Family Advocacy.
PREP 8.0 Relationship Intelligence For Couples (do not have to be married)
One Day 0830-1630
Designed to help couples achieve their goals in relationships and family. Helps build on the existing strengths of the couple and add critical life and relationship skills that will help participants to create safer and more stable couple relationships. This program is a relationship skills training course (education NOT therapy) for couples designed to help partners say what they need to say, get to the heart of problems, and increase their connection with each other. They learn skills to improve communication, enhance intimacy, work as a team, increase happiness and decrease stress.
Heart Link Spouse Orientation
Heart Link is a program sponsored by the Air Force Aid Society which provides essential information to new military spouses and spouses new to the area to make life in the military and at Offutt AFB fulfilling and rewarding. The day is filled with presentations, key resources and a great opportunity for networking with other spouses. This program is open to all services.
Air Force Families Forever
The Air Force Families Forever & Gold Star Families program provides long-term assistance and ensures family members remain connected to the larger Air Force family for as long as they desire. Our mission is to provide resources, support and information to help survivors adapt to life without their loved one.

Exceptional Family Member Program
Along with OSN, the Air Force is committed to providing consistent, quality support to military special needs family members while striving to promote self-sufficiency and resiliency in the EFMP arena.
EFMP-FS is the community support function provided by M&FRC to enhance the quality of life of special needs family members. The EFMP-FS program provides services to more than just active duty members and their families. It is all encompassing and includes DoD military, DoD civilians, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, retirees, spouses of deployed members, contractors and personnel from other military branches of service.

Military Family Life Counselors (MFLC)
MFLC's are available to deliver short term, situational, problem-solving non-medical counseling services to all branches of the military and their families. MFLC support addresses issues that occur specifically within the military lifestyle and helps service members and their families cope with normal reactions to the stressful/adverse situations created by deployments and reintegration. The services of MFLCs are intended to augment existing military counseling services.
Military & Family Life Counselors offer:
- Completely confidential and private, except for duty-to-warn situations.
- Flexible service delivery: Outreach/rotational and On-demand. The consultants rotate installations every 180 days and they operate on flexible hours.
- Services can be provided on or off military installations. The consultants cannot meet you at your home or your car.
- Services provided to individuals, couples, and families.
- They are mandated reporters of child abuse, domestic abuse, and other duty-to-warn situations.

Our Family Readiness NCO can assist you and your family in preparing for deployment, unaccompanied remote tours, or TDYs more than 30 days. Information applies to single members, as well as those with dependents.

The M&FRC provides resources, education, and personal financial counseling at every stage of financial readiness. Financial workshops are offered in the areas of Thrift Savings Plan, Investing, Debt Management, Home Buying, Car Buying, Paying for College, Couples Finance, Youth Finance, and Raising Financially Fit Kids.
Mandatory Financial Readiness Touchpoints we offer in-person includes: First Duty Station Officer, Transition (provided at 3-Day TAP Workshop), Pre-Post Deployment, Relocation/PCS, Birth of First Child, Marriage, Divorce, Promotion, Thrift Savings Plan BRS Vesting

Survivor Benefits & Casualty Assistance
Casualty Affairs
Our mission is to provide dignified compassionate and humane notification to family members and other designated persons as promptly as possible after a member is placed in a casualty status. The Casualty Assistance Representative will place claims for all benefits including: SGLI, Death Gratuity and Survivor Benefit Pay.
Survivor Benefits
A program through which the Department of Defense provides monthly, cost-of-living-adjusted income to eligible survivors of Retired Service members who enrolled in the program. All retiring personnel and their spouses are provided information about the Survivor Benefit Plan from a trained Survivor Benefit Plan counselor.

Employment Program
The M&FRC employment program offers individual consultations for both Active Duty Service Members and their families to assist in their job search and resume review. They also offer in-depth information for Military Spouses regarding educational programs/financial assistance, licensure reimbursement, and employment assistance. The A&FRC also provides both federal and civilian resume classes, a spouse education class, and LinkedIn classes to network service members and their families with information and resources on opportunities in the local area.

Installation Voting Assistance Office
The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) works to ensure Service members, their eligible family members and overseas citizens are aware of their right to vote and have the tools and resources to successfully do so - from anywhere in the world.
FVAP assists voters through partnerships with the Military Services, Department of State, Department of Justice and election officials from 50 States, U.S. territories and the District of Columbia.

The Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) is the official charity of the U.S. Air Force and has been meeting the unique needs of Airmen and their families since 1942. AFAS works to support and enhance the USAF mission by providing emergency financial assistance, educational support, and community programs.

Unit Sponsorship Program Support
The M&FRC Relocation Program is here to support Sponsors and Command Support Staff who are charged with managing and monitoring the unit level Sponsorship Program
Sponsors: The first step to becoming a successful Sponsor is taking the e-sponsorship application training (eSAT). This is a Department of Defense training, is mandated for all new Sponsors and Sponsors who have not taken the eSAT training within the year prior to a new Sponsorship assignment. Training certificates must be submitted to your unit Command Support Staff for unit Sponsorship Program recordkeeping. In addition to offering the Sponsorship training, this site provides Sponsors with information on the MilitaryInstallations and Plan My Move websites. It also provides a sample welcome letter, a Sponsorship duty checklist, and a Newcomer and Family needs assessment, which should be tailored to fit the needs of the inbound member and their Family.
Command Support Staff: Command Support Staff are tasked with managing and monitoring unit Sponsorship Programs. They are encouraged to take the eSAT training to become familiarized with the official role of the Sponsors they assign and the resources available to incoming members.
Area Resources: A comprehensive source of resources at Offutt AFB and in the surrounding areas is available on the MilitaryInstallations. Command Support Staff, Sponsors, and incoming members are encouraged to contact the Relocation Assistance Program manager for assistance, guidance, and resources
OFFICIAL SPONSORSHIP PROCESS
- Sponsor is notified of sponsorship appointment by Commander Support Staff
- Sponsor MUST complete eSATonline training
- Sponsor submits training certificate to Commander Support Staff
- Sponsor downloads the Sponsor Checklist and Newcomer Needs Assessment (available through the My Training Hub account)
- Sponsor contacts the inbound member with initial needs assessment, recommending self-serve use of the MilitaryInstallations and Plan My Move websites
- Sponsor meets initial assessment needs of Newcomer and continues to provide all pre-move, arrival, and post-move assistance and guidance in accordance with the checklist
- Upon Newcomer arrival, Sponsor provides settling-in services, ensures members complete all in-processing requirements, ensures members register for the Newcomer’s Orientation.

OFFICIAL SPONSORSHIP PROCESS
- Sponsor is notified of sponsorship appointment by Commander Support Staff
- Sponsor MUST complete eSATonline training
- Sponsor submits training certificate to Commander Support Staff
- Sponsor downloads the Sponsor Checklist and Newcomer Needs Assessment (available through the My Training Hub account)
- Sponsor contacts the inbound member with initial needs assessment, recommending self-serve use of the MilitaryInstallations and Plan My Move websites
- Sponsor meets initial assessment needs of Newcomer and continues to provide all pre-move, arrival, and post-move assistance and guidance in accordance with the checklist
- Upon Newcomer arrival, Sponsor provides settling-in services, ensures members complete all in-processing requirements, ensures members register for the Newcomer’s Orientation.
