VA recently modernized the Post-9/11 GI Bill® application process based on feedback and usability testing sessions held with Veterans and service members. The streamlined experience means it’s never been easier or faster for Veterans and service members to apply for Post-9/11 GI Bill education benefits. Those applying for the first time, using their own benefits, may experience:
- Faster education benefits decisions
- User-intuitive designs and streamlined processes
- Pre-filled applicant information, including service history
- Downloadable decision letters
We hope knowing this will help persuade more Veterans and service members to use the benefits they’ve earned. VA’s goal is to continue modernizing the GI Bill experience for students by expanding this enhanced application experience to other populations in the future. With this enhancement, applicants can spend less time filling out an application and more time forging their post-service career path. The virtual Force Development Center was designed with all Airmen in mind (active duty, reserve, guard, and civilian.) Airmen are encouraged to take time and visit the virtual center to review the free resources available to them and take the extra step towards self-development.
The one-stop site links to numerous professional development resources. The center has consolidated various self-developmental services and information to link members directly to foundational learning, professional education, and many other resources. Airmen also have access to a collection of self-paced courses, books, videos, case studies, learning tracks, executive book summaries and live events that can be accessed from your personal device.
Contact us at education6@us.af.mil and say “I want to use my TA” to get the process started to use your voluntary education benefits!
Got questions about SkillBridge? Please contact the Offutt Education Center first. When individuals submit requests about the SkillBridge program through the DoD SkillBridge website, they may not be aware those queries are eventually forwarded to the Ed Center at their local base of assignment. We’ve received several referrals from the SkillBridge site in the past few months. Almost all of the requests were from individuals that had not contacted the Ed Center. Please contact us directly by phone at 402.294.5716, or via email at: education6@us.af.mil. We’re excited for you and are standing by to assist you as you approach this time of transition from the Armed Forces.
If you are a military member and in need of your Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) and/or Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) scores reported to CCAF for credit, you will need to complete DLIFLC FORM 420 and request the transcript to be sent to CCAF; please see Base Education Office for the form or further assistance.
DANTES-Funded CLEP and DSST testing schedule is Tuesdays and Thursdays at 0900 and 1300.
This testing is used for college credit or to help complete your CCAF degree.
Pearson VUE testing is held on every Friday between 0900 and 1530 for anyone who has base access. Pricing varies based on the exam.
This testing is used to deliver certification & licensing exams that provide credentials in virtually every industry—from dermatology to driving, real estate to risk management, and everything in between.
Please go to www.unomaha.edu/offutt-testing or call 402.554.6305 for additional information and to help schedule an exam.
